“Hi Siri Blog Media Upload” Having just started a WordPress blog I wanted an easy way to upload photos that I take on my iPhone. My options were either to use the iPhone WordPress app or use the web interface. Since the app is quite buggy and I really just wanted to upload the photos off my phone as quickly as possible so I could then edit on my laptop.
This is where I learned about the iPhones new feature of Siri Shortcuts.
This is an Apple app that allows users to essentially script (program) a function. It is definitely not as full featured as I would like as a programmer, but it is fairly flexible. So I decided to create a Siri shortcut to upload a selection of photos to my WordPress Media.
This shortcut can be started on the home screen, from within the Siri Shortcut app or by talking to Siri. Once started the shortcut will open the Photos selector where you can select multiple photos you want to upload to you blog. Then you select done and the script will then convert the image and upload it to your WordPress blog Media folder.
For the Post to WordPress function you will need to add your WordPress account credentials to be successful.
Here is a short video on how the shortcut was created
